Svitlana Povaliaieva

Ukrainian writer, poet, journalist, and civic activist.

She graduated from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specializing in international journalism with a focus on television journalism.

Laureate of the "Molode Vyno" poetry contest, the All-Ukrainian literary competition by Smoloskyp Publishing House, and the "Start" young artists competition by the Renaissance Foundation.

Participant in numerous literary and music festivals. She took part in three revolutions (the Revolution on Granite, the Orange Revolution, and the Revolution of Dignity) as well as in protest actions such as "Ukraine Without Kuchma" and the "Language Maidan."

Author of seven prose books, two poetry collections, and a book for young children. Her works have been published in many anthologies.
